Equipment

A rainy day:
Warm clothes and substantial waterproofs. Waterproof trousers
and jacket, or a raincoat and a sou’wester are suitable. Avoid
plastic waterproofs — they tear easily.
A cold day:
Hat, scarf, warm jumper and gloves or mittens are necessary.
Remember that even a summer’s day can be cold.
A warm day:
An ordinary tracksuit is good on a hot summer’s day. It’s best
to wear a hat — remember that the sun can burn.
Whatever the weather::
Avoid tight-fitting trousers!
The right shoes mean happy feet:
Do not wear new shoes – wear shoes that have been broken in. If
it is dry along the roads and fields, wear a shoe with a thick
sole. Trainers are also suitable. On wet ground, a pair of wellies
or cellular rubber shoes with a profile sole are recommended.
Packing:
Naturally, the packing depends on the length of the tour. A few
tips: fruit, raisins, flask with drink, compass, plasters in case
of blisters. Don’t forget the camera!
Train before the hike:
Walk regularly. Go for an evening walk – maybe with a good
friend or the family.
The day of the hike:
Take it easy — allow 10 minutes of rest per hour.
